The 76ers are in town, which means another opportunity to revisit last season’s Conference Semi-finals. We won’t show The Shot here, since you’ll no doubt see it 117 times tonight — and I assume that you, like me, can see it vividly any time you close your eyes.
Tonight is slightly different, though, as Joel Embiid is not playing, and the 76ers have been pretty darn good — and quite different — without him.
With more space to operate, Ben Simmons has been flying all over the floor. The 76ers have won four straight, with Simmons averaging 24 points, nine rebounds and 9.5 assists on 68% shooting.
Of course, 98.3% of his shots in that stretch have come from 10 feet or less, he hasn't attempted a single three-pointer, and he’s 15-for-29 from the free throw line. That’s the full Ben Simmons experience I guess!
Turnovers, actually, are also part of the Simmons experience. He’s averaging just over two turnovers per game in this stretch, which is excellent considering his usage. You know how many he’s averaging per game against Toronto this season? Six! He has a total of 12 TOs in two games!
Let’s see how he handles a fully healthy Raptors squad tonight.
