It’s a sensitive time for Raptors fans and frankly, I get it. The loss to the Bucks on Thursday still stings. There are questions in the air as to Toronto’s ultimate ceiling. And it has already been announced that Kyle Lowry will sit out this afternoon’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
How do I know we’re collectively on edge? Because the below tweet got people heated!
The condition of Lowry and his back are very much the deciding factor for the Raptors. I worry about it constantly, and I admit I was looking forward to Lowry maybe not making the All-Star team so he could take the week off to rest. In all, I’ve been looking forward to some sort of positive update — not another announcement that he’d be forced to miss more time. While this Super Bowl-inflicted afternoon game is a weird one, especially for the Clippers who played (and won) yesterday at 5pm, the Raptors will likely be fine in the short term.
It’s in the long term future — one in which Lowry is hampered by this bad back, doubtful of his long-range shooting, unsure of his ability to drive — where this struggle will live. As I suggested above, all you can do is laugh because all other ways lead to despair.
Or if you’d like somewhere to direct your rage (away from me, thanks), I have a suggestion for that too:
