2019 NBA All-Star Sunday: Game Thread

New, comments

The end is nigh. It may have been a struggle for most of the weekend, but there were some highlights. Now we get to sit back and watch the best 24 players of the season run a scrimmage.

Again, the end is nigh. Tonight, Kawhi Leonard debuts his new line of New Balance performance basketball sneakers, Kyle Lowry plays in his fifth straight all-star game and we finally get to think about the return of regular season basketball.

As a Raptors fan though, it’s been a fun weekend when you think about all that’s happened. Danny Green suddenly became a broadcast star — first hosting the Rising Stars Challenge, and then interviewing nearly every player in attendance on Saturday afternoon, much to Josh Lewenberg’s quiet dismay — before scoring a 23 in the 3-point contest. What a legend.

But now here we are: Team LeBron and Team Giannis pitted against one another. Team LeBron is loudly made up of upcoming free agents mostly, including Kawhi Leonard — making rooting for Kawhi’s victory tough for many fans. Lowry on the other hand will look to put up a record number of assists off the bench, which would need to be 23 since Magic Johnson holds the record of 22.

I for one hope and believe in our guy.

Mitch Orsatti detailed both rosters, and his preview can be found here.

A little update, which is strange for an All-Star game: Anthony Davis is actually a game-time decision (not a joke). He’ll test his shoulder out in warmups and if he can’t play I guess Team LeBron won’t have a full roster. Bizarre move by Davis.

The fact that I had to post a lineup update that doesn’t involve Vince Carter sitting out for Michael Jeffrey Jordan is just absurd.

But anyway, here are the details from tonight’s game, and enjoy the show!
