Not to be outdone by their parent club, the Raptors 905 of the G League have officially announced their team roster for the season. What’s more, they’ve got a preseason schedule planned out too in advance of their opening tip on November 8th.
Let’s get to the team details first. Fresh off the G League Draft from Saturday in which the 905 took three players, here’s the full squad heading into training camp (which begins with 905 Media Day today).
The three newest members of the squad, Leland King II, Mike Parks Jr., and Mike Davis, join a 905 team with some by now familiar names. If you watched the Raptors play in the preseason you no doubt saw a bit of Oshae Brissett (now on a two-way contract), Devin Robinson, and a flash of Sagaba Konate (out now for at least three weeks, sadly). There’s also Matt Morgan and Shamorie Ponds, who have been around the G League and the 905 in the last little while. And of course there’s Tyler Ennis, who’s played steadily in the NBA since 2014.
Thanks to some recent trades involving the rights to this or that player, the 905 recently added Justin Reyes, Juwan Evans, and Paul Watson. And through their much written about open tryout process, they’ve somehow managed to acquire a total of four (4!) players, including Nicholas Baer, Xavier Moon (winner of best name on the team), Jean-Victor Mukama, and Paul White. This remains, to me, the most storybook way to end up on a professional basketball team — yes, even if it’s the G League.
As far as I can tell, the only returning member of the 905 from last year’s team is... Duane Notice! Godspeed young man. Your Mississauga service time has not escaped our, uh, notice.
And now for the 905’s preseason schedule, be ready on the following dates:
November 2 — Raptors 905 vs. K-W Titans at 2pm at Conestoga College
November 5 — Raptors 905 vs. Erie BayHawks at 11am at Paramount Fine Foods Centre
