We’ve highlighted the key dates, undertaken a deep dive, and even did some grousing, but now we can officially bring you the important details on the Raptors broadcast schedule for the 2018-19 season. As announced this morning on Wednesday, here it is:
As is customary in the broadcast blood pact in Canada, TSN and Sportsnet will carry 41 games each. As previously noted, the Raptors kick off the season on October 17 against the new-look Cavaliers in the newly re-named Scotiabank Arena. The Raps hit the road for the first time on October 20, to take on the sad-sack Wizards. Then its just another 80 games, as we all know.
Some other notes: all 82 games will be produced by NBA TV Canada, which is nice. Of course, Matt Devlin will be back to do play-by-play for every game in this his 11th season (time flies). As per the aforementioned broadcast blood pact, Jack Armstrong will provide interesting comments for the TSN telecasts, and Leo Rautins will talk about feeding the big fella on Sportsnet.
For those who want a more old-timey feel to their sports consumption, Sportsnet 590 The Fan and TSN 1050 will also be splitting radio duties (this blood pact goes deep). Eric Smith will handle play-by-play duties for 590, with Paul Jones jumping in to do analyst work. Then, Jones will slide over to the play-by-play chair for 1050, with Armstrong and the electric Sherman Hamilton sharing the analyst duties.
Let’s get ready to watch and listen!
