The Raptors’ 2017-18 season has been over for awhile now, so long live the Raptors 2018-19 season. On Thursday afternoon, the team announced some of its plans for their next preseason tour. The full schedule is not yet known, but we’ve got the two upcoming Canadian spots of note.
Here’s how it all shakes out, with tickets going on sale July 14th:
Sept. 27: vs. the Portland Trail Blazers at Rogers Arena, Vancouver
Oct. 10: vs. the Brooklyn Nets at Bell Centre, Montreal
And now a word, via press release, from team president Masai Ujiri:
“One of the many great things about being Canada’s team is that we get a chance to bring the game we love to different parts of the country, and to connect with our fans, whose support is so important to us throughout the season. It’s also an opportunity for us to enjoy these spectacular cities – we’re really looking forward to our time in Vancouver and Montreal.”
While we can know longer celebrate Canadian basketball with a showdown between the Raptors and Grizzlies (of Vancouver) — long live the Naismith Cup! — it is cool to see Toronto’s team turn into something of a touring road show for the preseason.
There’s a lot of basketball love out there in this country, and it’s a nice gesture to give many out there a chance to express it.
