The OG Anunoby Quote of the Week: On stopping LeBron James

OG Anunoby is a Raptors rookie who is sometimes asked questions he has to answer.

OG Anunoby is a rookie for the 2017-18 Toronto Raptors. Here is his Quote of the Week for the week of May 9, 2018.

The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the Raptors’ 2017-18 season on Monday, May 7th, in a 4-0 series win in the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Anunoby was tasked with guarding LeBron James, acknowledged as the best basketball player on the planet, for much of that time. Though he didn’t really stop LeBron, OG did what he could. Later, James said OG has a “bright future.”

Thanks to Blake Murphy’s conversations with Anunoby during the series, and his now-published piece at UPROXX, we have some sense of how the Raptors’ rookie feels about the words from LeBron, and his own plans for the future.

“That’s really cool coming from a guy like him,” Anunoby says. “It just makes me want to work harder. Just seeing how good he is, it makes me wanna be better, you know what I mean? I don’t think I should be satisfied with being a rookie and he still had 30 points, he was still scoring efficiently. I can’t be satisfied with that. I’ve gotta stop him. That’s the goal.”

We’ve come a long way from “Ya.”

The end.
