There it is, the news: as per reports from Adrian Wojnarowski at ESPN, the Raptors have decided to fire head coach Dwane Casey.
Toronto has fired coach Dwane Casey, league source tells ESPN.

It had been reported that the team was leaning towards making a coaching change, as per TSN. Then Casey won the NBCA Coach of the Year award, which sounded like it could have been a stay of execution.
And of course, Casey had to address the matter a bit in his end of year presser (which you can watch here). He would have entered the 2018-19 season on the final year of his contract, with $6 million remaining.
In one sense, it’s not a surprise, after seven years, that Toronto would want to go another way with their coaching position. Casey had a good run with the team — in fact, he’s the best coach the franchise has ever had. But eventually a change is needed, I guess.
Ah well. Good luck and godspeed out there Dwane.
UPDATE: It’s official, via the official press release.
