NBA All-Star 2018 Saturday Night: Lowry in the 3-Point Shootout, and more

It’s a night of events for the NBA: the Skills competition, the 3-Point shootout (featuring Kyle Lowry!), and the Dunk Contest. Let’s watch.

The All-Star festivities march on tonight with a Saturday night party featuring something for everyone. And unlike last night’s excitement, these events actually feature the Raptors: that’s right, Kyle Lowry is back in the three-point shootout.

(Here again is the full schedule for the weekend.)

First up, the Skills competition is going down, but once again with a twist: big men are all over the event. Here’s who’s participating:

Spencer Dinwiddie (Nets), Joel Embiid (76ers), Al Horford (Celtics), Lauri Markkanen (Bulls), Buddy Hield (Kings), Jamal Murray (Nuggets), Andre Drummond (Pistons), Lou Williams (Clippers).

(Note: pour one out for Kristaps Porzingis, defending champion; he’s injured with a torn ACL and will no longer be a part of the event.)

Next up, the big time three-point shootout with Kyle Lowry and: the defending champ Eric Gordon (Rockets), Klay Thompson (Warriors), Bradley Beal (Wizards), Paul George (Thunder), Devin Booker (Suns), Wayne Ellington (Heat), Tobias Harris (Clippers).

For me (and for perhaps many of you), I just hope Lowry, now in his third shootout, will finally make a dent in the deeper rounds. Let’s see what happens.

And finally, the dunk contest.

It’s without Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon, who created some indelible dunking images in years past, but still, there are some high-flyers to look forward to. The contestants are: Victor Oladipo (Pacers), Larry Nance Jr. (Cavaliers), Dennis Smith Jr. (Mavericks), Donovan Mitchell (Jazz).

All we can ask: who ya got?
