After a relatively easy schedule in November and December, many questioned whether the Raptors would be able to sustain their winning ways in January, when 10 of their 15 scheduled games were against playoff teams.
DeRozan ultimately put the team on his back, helping the Raptors to a 10-5 record this month, dispelling the worries many had that the team was succeeding solely because of their soft schedule.
DeRozan previously won the award January of 2016 and April of 2015.
