Could you imagine being a fan of any other team in the league? Like, just imagine it.
The Toronto Raptors have the most diverse fan base in the NBA, bar none. Sure, you might not be able to afford to go to games on the regular, but if you could then you’d have to support, say, the Dallas Mavericks. It’s just not the same — Raptors fans are a different breed. They cheer louder, and they love harder; so much so that the greatest basketball player in the entire universe (unless there’s some special basketball planet we don’t know about) is blown away by their support.
But do you know what else Raptors fans really do better than any other fan base? They tweet better. There is no group of basketball devotees that does Twitter better than Raptors fans. They are kind, they are friendly, and they are hilarious. Maybe it was the need for a real basketball fix after 163 days without, or maybe it was the sense of community that being a Raptors fan brings. Either way, Raptors Twitter was LIT, as the kids say (or at least said like a year ago), and so we present the best tweets from opening night.
First, some pre-game vibes:
This is one of my favourite Raptors quotes ever. pic.twitter.com/dfJ1BgNwmO

They always talk about how diverse the city of Toronto is, but man is it incredibly wonderful to witness it through the medium of an entire fanbase. pic.twitter.com/cDwdbuFNZz

WE HAVE LOWRY ALREADY. It’s not even fair that we also have FVV.

Who else could ever
We've got our first "Kyle Lowry snakes in to steal a rebound from an opposing forward" of the year!

What was he thinking lol ♀️

(Note: if you don’t know, Marie Hollaway is Kyle’s mom, which makes this tweet the absolute best.)
And finally, the post-game celebration (with an acknowledgement of the past):
the real culture change is going from free pizza for 100 points regardless of win/loss to this: https://t.co/B6i4nodUBp

It’s possible to root for Kawhi Leonard in Toronto, and also want DeMar DeRozan to kill it out in San Antonio.
— Chris Walder (@WalderSports) October 18, 2018
Raptors win. Pistons win. Spurs win.

Kawhi Lowry Casey Demar
je suis happy
Tonight’s game might be a little bit more important, but if Raptors/Celtics Twitter is anything like Raptors/Cavaliers Twitter, the Raptors have already won.
