Gamble responsibly, folks

NBA: Playoffs-Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers
Have you seen this? Have you heard about this?

Did you know you can gamble on pretty much anything? It’s true. I’ve worked full-time in the online sports betting industry for three and a half years and some of the stuff out there is pretty wild. For instance, at my old job I was once asked to write an article highlighting the odds of what Prince William and Kate Middleton would name their unborn baby. The “George” option cashed at a pretty decent price.

In the midst of a drama-filled summer in the NBA that’s created more headlines than the on-court product itself, the good people of Las Vegas are gearing up for another season of winning boat loads of money off of drunk tourists. It’s a tradition unlike any other.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, a.k.a. the Adrian Wojnarowski of Sin City sports books, has released odds on the over/under win totals for every team in the Association this year.

Our beloved Toronto Raptors have been tabbed with win total of 48.5, which means oddsmakers are expecting a slight regression from last season’s club that won 51 games. The Dinos haven’t won less than 48 games since the franchise returned to relevance in 2013-14 in the Masai Ujiri era.

The Boston Celtics are projected to be the top team in the Eastern Conference with a 56.5 number, ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers (53.5), Toronto and other contenders like Washington (47.5) and Milwaukee (47.5).

Unsurprisingly, the reigning champion Golden State Warriors possess the highest number in the league at 67.5, with fellow top teams in the West like Houston (55.5), San Antonio (54.5) and Oklahoma City (51.5) right behind them.

Here’s a look at the shop’s full list:

Atlanta Hawks 25.5
Boston Celtics 56.5
Brooklyn Nets 28.5
Charlotte Hornets 42.5
Chicago Bulls 21.5
Cleveland Cavaliers 53.5

What do you think? Are oddsmakers off the mark on this one, or did they hit it right on the nose? Have your say in the comments.
