It’s June 22nd. We made it. Tonight is the 2017 NBA Draft. Can you feel the excitement? I can.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll note the Raptors have the 23rd pick in the draft. We’ve been doing our best to cover every angle of the dang thing. Head over here for every recent update on what the Raptors may or may not be doing.
And now, for the event itself, here’s a little W5H summary on the night’s festivities.
The NBA Draft involves all 30 teams and more prospects than you can name. The Raptors are sitting pretty with the 23rd pick. The mock drafts have them using the selection on a whole bunch of different players.
Or... they could trade the pick.
Yes, I said they could trade the pick. I don’t think they will, but we’ll keep you updated if that’s the case. I don’t mean for the “what” section to sound so incredulous, but you know the ins and outs of the draft by now.
For more context, SB Nation has put together some info on all the trades that have happened to set the selection order as it is. There’s also an in-house mock draft (with the Raptors selecting Semi Ojeleye, hmmm).
Circle back to this post for a link to the SB Nation live draft tracker too.
The NBA Draft is being held in Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre. No one from the Raptors HQ staff is there, though I believe the Toronto Sun’s Ryan “Woz” Wolstat is in the house.
We’ll of course be watching it on TV. ESPN has you covered there.
Or you can watch a live stream online at WatchESPN.com. The future!
A few hours in the future to be exact. The NBA Draft will begin at 8pm EST tonight, though really, it’s been running in our hearts and minds for months now.
Well, you just, you know, turn on your TV, or log in on your computer, and follow the links I’ve provided up there.
You want more info? This is your Raptors HQ base of operations for all draft-related coverage. We’ll have a open thread going as the draft plays out, we’ll have all and any updates with regards to the Raptors, and we’ll have post-pick takes ready to go afterwards.
Follow along with our guys Sean Woodley and Mitch Robson. Plus, I’ll be around to make astute, sarcastic remarks. (And if the Raptors draft a big white guy, be sure to follow Harsh Dave’s live meltdown.)
