If you were busy reading or thinking or tweeting about last night’s Golden State Warriors championship victory, stop right now. The Raptors, our beloved team from Toronto, is doing work. That’s right, they are at this very moment welcoming a group of six prospects into the BioSteel Centre for a pre-draft workout. This is important.
Let’s get to the names.
Seth Allen, Guard, 6-2, Virginia Tech
Naz Mitrou-Long, Guard, 6-3, Iowa State
Sindarius Thornwell, Guard, 6-3, South Carolina
Dwayne Bacon, Forward, 6-5, Florida State
Chance Comanche, Forward, 6-10, Arizona
Isaac Humphries, Forward, 6-11, Kentucky
Some interesting Draft Express ranking notes to make here. First, just to get this out of the way: Seth Allen and (Canadian) Naz Mitrou-Long don’t make the cut. They’re not listed on DX’s Top 100 prospects and we wish them the best of luck.
Second, the high man here is Thornwell, who DX has ranked 56 on their top 100 list. He’s followed by Bacon at 74, Comanche at 90, and Humphries at 91. Not exactly an august group of players, but nevertheless. The funky thing to note here is that in DX’s mock draft, Bacon comes in at 54, a full 20 spots higher than his prospect ranking. Ah, the mysteries of the oracle.
Third, I know I remark on prospect’s names often, but believe me when I tell you that Chance Comanche is the best name we’ve had come visit Toronto during this pre-draft process. We can talk stats, and physical dimensions, and prospective plans for the Raptors’ franchise, and all of that, but we will not touch the phonetic brilliance of a man named Chance Comanche. Just awesome.
Reminder: the NBA Draft is on June 22nd. Keep an eye open.
