Following a Rod Black voice-over filled with poor puns and cheesy cliches, TSN went live inside the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee for the beginning of their Game 3 broadcast by showing the Raptors player introductions.
In just one move, Milwaukee’s game operations crew put the Raptors (and their own game ops crew, which is often sub-optimal) on blast.
In a stroke of genius, with an absolutely raucous crowd behind them, the Bucks had the Raptors beaten from the opening tip, as they blasted the theme song from beloved children’s show Barney over the arena speakers in the best trolling move this NBA season.
The effect? Kyle Lowry was 4-of-10 from the floor for 13 points and a -18, and DeMar DeRozan went 0 for from the field on eight attempts while registering a -23. They may as well have been wearing Barney’s big fat smiling mug on their jerseys.
Jonas Valanciunas played what very well may have been the worst game of his NBA career, as he was pushed around by Thon Maker, who is 120 pounds soaking wet and played HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL IN ORANGEVILLE LAST YEAR.
JYD 2.NO aka DeMarre Carroll looked like he shouldn’t even be on an NBA roster, as Giannis Antetokounmpo threw him around like a rag doll while Carroll attempted to “guard” him.
The two vets who seem to be the only players that actively give a shit, Serge Ibaka and P.J. Tucker, were fairly invisible, and Tucker didn’t even get into the game during the second half.
This team let Greg Monroe work the paint like Karl Malone, Malcolm Brogdon make plays like John Stockton, and let Michael Beasley drop 13 points while the dude was celebrating 4/20. I mean, this really happened.
Toronto continues to be softer than baby poop, the Bucks are beating them up, and until that changes, no other adjustments in this series will matter.
