NBA Playoffs 2017: The Raptors will play Game 1 vs. the Bucks at... 5:30?

We were wrong!

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

File this under “things we thought we’d never see”: the Raptors are booked to play Game 1 against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2017 NBA playoffs at Saturday, April 15th at... 5:30!

This is not a typo — it’s for real. The Raptors will not, I repeat, will not, be playing at 12:30 as part of the cruel opening game of the NBA playoffs. We’ll be able to eat Saturday brunch like civilized people and go about our lives for the majority of the day, before settling into various coaches, bar stools and seats to watch the Raptors begin their campaign for an NBA title. Will wonders never cease?

Here’s the schedule we have so far:

No. 3 Toronto Raptors vs. No. 6 Milwaukee Bucks

Game 1: Saturday at Toronto, 5:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Game 2: at Toronto

Game 3: at Milwaukee

Game 4: at Milwaukee

Game 5*: at Toronto

Game 6*: at Milwaukee

Game 7*: at Toronto

Admittedly, this is not much to go on, but it is a hard fact. Also, check the entire Game 1 sequence of events here, if only to plan your day.

We’ll have the full schedule for you once it becomes available but suffice to say: we here at Raptors HQ, as members of the Raptors community, are shocked at this turn of events. (Did I have a family dinner planned for Saturday night that will now be cancelled? I can neither confirm nor deny these reports.)

The Raptors will not be playing at lunch time. And — gasp — may even have a shot to win Game 1 at home.

What a time.
