The Weekly Rap, Feb. 27th-Mar. 5th: P.J. Tucker Appreciation Thread

Following Masai’s steal of P.J. Tucker at the deadline, he spoke of being thrilled to be back where it all started for him as an NBA player way back in 2006, and how excited he was to rejoin a winning team’s program after the past few seasons in Phoenix.

The dude is a human wrecking ball on defense, can knock down an open shot and get his on offence if necessary, and brings fighting skills back to this roster we haven’t seen since last year with black belt James Johnson. In other words, we finally got an enforcer on the roster who wish a dude would:

Mar. 1st vs. Wizards

The stretch of point guard coming through the ACC doesn’t get any easier, with Cory Jo and Delon Wright tasked with slowing down John Wall on Wednesday night. This matchup would’ve scared me before the deadline, but with the roster the Raps are trotting out right now, they’ve got defenders to stick with Wall, Beal and Porter, and will need JV to be efficient and win his matchup against Gortat. The Raps bench will win them this game, as Bojdan Bogdanovic won’t quite be enough of a lift for the Wiz 2nd unit for them to stay close while Beal and Wall aren’t in the game. Raptors by 7.

Mar. 3rd @ WAS

The Raptors are playing the Wizards in DC on Friday in the second half of the home and home, and as March begins in 2017, let’s see how March ended in 2007.

The Raptors always seem to have a lot of success against the Bucks, and I don’t see that ending anytime soon. The Greivis Vasquez curse hovers over the matchup, as the Raps win by double digits.
