Milwaukee Bucks Sign 905 Swingman Axel Toupane

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed 905 guard Axel Toupane to a 10-day contract.

Late Thursday evening, Chris Reichert from The Step Back reported the Milwaukee Bucks are signing Axel Toupane to a 10-day contract.

I have been saying for awhile now it was just a matter of time until Toupane returned to the NBA. With the Bucks fighting for a playoff spot, and down one Jabari Parker, the pickup makes sense.

Toupane has been the 905’s best and most consistent player this season. In 28 games he’s averaging 27.6 minutes per game in coach Jerry Stackhouse’s rotation. Along with that Toupane is averaging 16.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 49.5% from the field and 32.3% from three.

Last season with the 905 Toupane also earned a NBA call-up from the Denver Nuggets, as he got two 10-day contracts followed by a multi-year deal but was waived in training camp. With the Nuggets last season, Toupane played in 21 games, and averaged 14.5 minutes per game. While contributing 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game while shooting 35.7% from the field and 32.5% from three.

As for the 905, this call-up couldn’t come at a better time as it’s before the NBA D-League trade deadline (March 1) so the 905 can still swing a deal for a replacement.

Congratulations, Axel!
