The Raptors and Vince Carter are still circling each other. Even with all the time that’s passed, even with everything that has happened since, even as their trajectories have crossed paths — one up, the other down — we in Toronto may never be free of VC. Not completely.
That brings us to today with the Sacramento Kings. This is Carter’s sixth NBA team after leaving Toronto. He killed the city in New Jersey, then decamped to Orlando, Phoenix, Dallas, and Memphis, before finding himself in Sacramento — a hopeless team. He won’t factor in much for today’s game (except now apparently he’s starting), and in fact won’t be talking to the media before or after the event. Carter knows he’ll have the answer the same questions again. We’re always circling.
If you recall, we’ve already made our goodbyes — what’s left to say? We should just think about this game, and where the Raptors are heading now. Carter did his part, brought the team to relevancy, sunk them, and then left Toronto to its own devices. Looking around now, it really isn’t so bad.
Here’s Dylan Litman’s preview for the game. And here are those details again.
