The Raptors 905 announced their 12-man roster late last night ahead of Tuesday’s media day. This, after waiving forward Jamaal Brantley, centre Liam McMorrow and guard Eric Washington, all of whom were 2017 G-League draft picks.
Making the 905’s roster are Lorenzo Brown, Malcolm Miller, Kennedy Meeks, Davion Berry, and Edy Tavares — the guys the team signed over the summer — plus, a returning Negus Webster-Chan, draftee Kethan Savage, the traded for Aaron Best, and a group of local tryout guys: Kaza Keane, Andre Washington, Richard Armadi and Roger Moute a Bidas.
Out of the twelve players, four are Canadian — Webster-Chan, Best, Keane and Armadi. And what’s more, Best and Keane both played their collegiate-level basketball in Canada at Ryerson and Carleton, respectively.
As you can tell, the roster is much different from the championship roster of last season, with only two players back from that team. This is life in the G-League, where success hopefully sets guys up for greater basketball opportunities elsewhere in the world or, if it all goes to plan, in the NBA.
