In two recent pieces by CSN’s J. Michael and the Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, we are able to look behind closed doors and see the details on the ever souring relationship between the Wizards cornerstone backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal.
Wall is upset that he isn’t being marketed as THE face of the franchise and that his contract looks like pennies compared to Beal’s new $128 million dollar deal signed this past off-season.
Beal is probably not too happy about Wall referring him to him as his sidekick and A-1, as he feels he’s just as talented as his point guard if not better.
It was just two years ago that Beal told USA Today “We’re definitely the best backcourt in the league,” a statement which sent snickers around NBA Twitter. Obviously the Wiz duo was lower in the pecking order than the Splash Brothers, but it also had people #EmbracingDebate whether they were better or worse than the Raptors backcourt duo of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry.
Despite the Wiz playoff series sweep that seems like ages ago now, Lowry and DeRozan have cemented themselves as the premier backcourt in the East coming off their run to a conference finals and capturing Olympic Gold.
They also happen to have the best bromance in the NBA, which leaves the relationship between Wall and Beal in the dust.
As Wall takes to UNINTERUPTED to get in my face and tell me he’s not jealous about other people’s contracts...

DeRozan is happily picking up the tab for Lowry during the weekly trip to Ruth’s Chris or Sotto Sotto.
If you peruse through the rest of Lowry’s Instagram feed, nearly 70 percent of the pictures are with DeRozan, whom he always refers to as family and a brother.

The icing on the Bromance cake comes when you take to Youtube, where searching “kyle lowry demar derozan bromance” brings up a whole list of results featuring the antics of the Raptors duo, whereas looking for “john wall bradley beal bromance” will only bring you a video of Wall smiling through gritted teeth at Hannah Storm asking whether he and Beal fight on the court, and a video from something called TicketTV with the headline “JOHN WALL ADMITS TO NOT LIKING BRADLEY BEAL ON THE BASKETBALL COURT!”
With training camp fast approaching, the Bromance will continue burgeoning for the Raptors all-stars while the Nomance between Wall and Beal will keep Wizards fans angsty this season.
