Regardless of how you feel about DeMar DeRozan the player, the vote of confidence he gave the organization in not booking any other meetings and re-signing with the Raptors within the first 3 hours of free agency has to be looked on as a feel-good story for the fanbase.
And now it's paid off with a deal:
DeMar DeRozan has agreed to a five-year, $139 million-plus deal with Toronto, sources tell The Vertical.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) July 1, 2016
Remember, this is a guy that's been around since Chris Bosh left:
Don't worry, I got us...— DeMar DeRozan (@DeMar_DeRozan) June 29, 2010
If the $139 million figure is daunting to you, keep in mind Timofey Mozgov got $65 million over 4 years and Bradley Beal just got ~$130 million over 5. In terms of traditional cap numbers, DeRozan's contract looks pretty fair:

So, our guy's back, and Terrence Ross and Jonas Valanciunas are locked up on bargain deals. Happy Canada Day indeed!
