Domantas Sabonis is one of seven players being worked out today by the Raptors

New, comments

We are getting closer and closer the NBA Draft. And here's what the Raptors are doing about it.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The gears of the NBA Draft machine continue to turn today as the Raptors are holding not one but two workouts for a total of seven players. The first will feature a group of six players headlined by Damian Jones of Vanderbilt. The second, suggesting a certain priority, will be all about Domantas Sabonis of Gonzaga (and substantial Sabonis pedigree).

Here's the full list of players in Toronto today:

Going purely from Draft Express' Top 100 prospects rankings, it looks like Jones and Sabonis could rise up to the no. 9 pick, depending on how the Raptors feel. Currently, they're ranked in the high teens range. Meanwhile, Diamond Stone (what a name!), Stephen Zimmerman and Jake Layman project to be in that no. 27 range or well beyond it into the second round.

For the record: I'm all in on drafting Sabonis. For one, he'd be another Lithuanian to pair with Jonas Valanciunas. For two, we might get Arvydas sightings around Toronto, which, I mean, I can barely contain my excitement. Oh yeah, and the kid also averaged 17.5 points and 11.8 rebounds his sophomore year. Unfortunately, I get this feeling Sabonis the younger is probably a reach at #9, but will likely be off the board by #27. Tough break for the Raptors.

What do you guys think of this group of prospects?
