What a bizarre night for Toronto. After playing it safe and selecting Jakob Poeltl with the ninth pick earlier in the night, the Raptors somehow found themselves with a pair of projected lottery-level big man up for grabs with their second first-round pick. But instead of stopping the slides of one of Skal Labissiere or Deyonta Davis, the Raptors decided to go off board with the pick of Siakam.
Draft Express had Siakam coming off the board 43rd in its final mock draft.
The 22-year-old was the WAC Player of the Year in his second season at NM State -- the same school that hosted Sim Bhullar, if you remember -- posting 20.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks on 55 percent shooting in 32 games.
Siakam measures in at 6'10, with a 7'3 wingspan and weighs in at about 230 pounds, per Draft Express. He seems to project as an energy-providing board-crasher with limited offensive skill. Sounds familiar.
We'll have more to come, but what do you think of the selection of Pascal Siakam?
