Odds Outlook: Vegas is respecting the Raptors

As outliers in the Eastern Conference for years, sports books in Las Vegas believe the Raptors can make a deep playoff run.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

As avid Toronto Raptors fans who follow the team closely, we as a community have a pretty good grasp on where the Raps are at heading into the playoffs. But what does Vegas think? This time around it's different.

At the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook -- the most renowned sports book in Sin City -- the Raptors are listed at 25/1 to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy. To put that into perspective, they were 50/1 before the season tipped off back in October.

Maybe it's due to the whole back-to-back first round exits thing, but the Dinos have been consistently undervalued for the last few years. On the heels of a franchise-best 56-26 campaign, it seems like Toronto has finally earned the respect of oddsmakers. It's a gambling miracle!

When it comes to Eastern Conference futures, the Raptors have been tabbed with a 5/1 shot to head to the NBA Finals. If you're feeling extra confident, that's a pretty decent price.

For the Raptors' overall series with the Indiana Pacers the book lists them as a -290 favourite, with the Pacers coming in at +245. In other words, if you placed a $100 bet on Toronto to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, you would win a grand total of $34.48.

Vegas shops have opened the Dinos as 6-point favourites for Game 1 on Saturday, and the over/under is currently sitting at 196.

Here's a look at the SuperBook's full list of championship odds:

Golden State Warriors 5/7
Cleveland Cavaliers 3/1
San Antonio Spurs 7/2
Oklahoma City Thunder 16/1
Toronto Raptors 25/1
Los Angeles Clippers 30/1
Miami Heat 40/1
Boston Celtics 50/1
Atlanta Hawks 60/1
Indiana Pacers 100/1
Charlotte Hornets 100/1
Portland Trail Blazers 200/1
Detroit Pistons 200/1
Houston Rockets 300/1
