Thursday's sports calendar is dominated by March Madness, while college students everywhere are currently hugging toilets in their dorm rooms to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. But there's NBA basketball to be played! Our very own Toronto Raptors are set to take on the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Pacers, who currently occupy the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, are winners of four of their last five. Those games weren't gimmes either, as Indy toppled San Antonio, Dallas and Boston in that span.
The good news is Toronto has traditionally fared well against this team. Despite suffering a 106-90 setback last December, the Dinos have triumphed in five of the last six meetings between the clubs.
With a pair of home games on Friday and Sunday looming, head coach Dwane Casey may opt to give some of his regulars a breather in this one. As a result of a hand injury he suffered in Monday's loss to the Chicago Bulls, big man Jonas Valanciunas is officially listed as questionable, and it wouldn't be surprising whatsoever to see the bench boss give him the night off. Casey has stated he's going to start resting his big guns in the stretch run of the regular season with the playoffs on the horizon.
Here's a bit of pre-game reading:
Sit back, grab a cold one and hit the comments. Happy Paddy's Day, y'all.
