According to TIFF.net, on Saturday, February 14th at 1pm, the TIFF Bell Lightbox will host a Space Jam live read. The full blurb reads:
In celebration of Space Jam's 20th anniversary and the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto on February 14, TIFF Next Wave presents a live read of this Looney Tunes/live-action mashup with an exciting lineup of talent from the sports and entertainment worlds. Stay "tooned" via social media for cast announcements!
In case you missed it [gives some extreme cut eye], Space Jam features Michael Jordan, greatest basketball player of all time, and Bugs Bunny, top five cartoon character, joining forces to form a super team of cartoon characters -- including all your favourites: Daffy, Tweety, Sylvester, etc. -- to play (and win at) a game of basketball against an invading alien force. The aliens, in this case, are known as the Monstars.
I assure you: It's a fun film for the whole family.
At this time, we have no further information with regards to who specifically will be playing the various parts in Space Jam -- Raptors players? Other NBA luminaries? Local celebrities? Muggsy Bogues as himself?
My source within the TIFF organization (this is not hyperbole, I actually do have a guy on the inside) informs me that the details will be announced in the days ahead.
As such, no word yet on who will play Bill Murray's part. (Wait, is Bill Murray available???)
More on this situation as it develops.
