The Raptors made their first hires for Raptors 905 on Tuesday, and did so by going the internal route and promoting a member of the front office and coaching staff.
The new General Manager of the team will be Dan Tolzman, who is and will also remain the director of player personnel for the big club while taking on his duties with the day-to-day management of players in Mississauga. "I'm honoured to have been named the first GM of Raptors 905. The NBA D-League is all about development and I look forward to using this opportunity to develop in my career while building and maintaining a competitive roster of young up-and-coming players." said Tolzman on his hire.
Jesse Mermuys will be promoted from assistant to Head Coach of 905, which is a logical step in his path towards becoming an NBA Head Coach. He coached the Summer League team last year and will do so again in the next two weeks. "I am extremely excited for the responsibility of developing and helping our young players reach their full potential." said Mermuys on his new role, and he also went on to say "My family and I are extremely grateful to the organization and ready to help build Raptors 905 from the ground up."
Do you think these two hires are the right choices to lead 905 on The Road to the Six?
