If every trend in the NBA is suggesting a move towards multi-skilled, two-way players, then the Raptors just got one of the best on the market in DeMarre Carroll. He has agreed to a four year, $60 million deal with Toronto.
The big Woj has reported the terms of the deal:
DeMarre Carroll has agreed to a four year, $60M deal with Toronto, league source tells Yahoo.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) July 1, 2015
But DeMarre himself had already gotten in on the action.
With photographic proof!
For the East-leading Atlanta Hawks last year, Carroll averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds, while shooting just shy of 40 percent from three (and 49 percent overall). He is an immediate upgrade over anyone else the Raptors could have thrown out there in the 3-spot - far more assertive than Terrence Ross, and more offensively skilled than James Johnson. Carroll is also big enough (at 6'8", 210 pounds) to move into a small ball lineup at the 4 if necessary. And the thought of putting him in a lineup with Patrick Patterson (and even Jonas Valanciunas) makes my heart explode.
No word yet on how the Raptors will deal with having a second "DeMar" on the team, but I'm sure something can be worked out.
I'm giddy. How do you guys feel about the deal?
