Discuss: Raptors interested in Monty Williams as an Assistant Coach

New, comments

The Pelicans' recently fired head coach Monty Williams is out there. The Raptors are looking for new assistant coaches. Do we have a deal brewing?

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

As reported by ESPN's Marc Stein, the Raptors may be sizing up freshly fired Pelicans coach Monty Williams for an assistant coaching position with Toronto.

Williams, 43, was the head coach in New Orleans for the past five years, the well-tailored bridge between the Chris Paul and Anthony Davis eras. He's also got a reputation as both a good developer of young players and a not-so-good in-game tactician. (And, something to keep in mind: he'll probably look for a head coach position elsewhere first.)

So, do you like the idea of a Raptors team with Williams in the ear of Dwane Casey?

(Or does Tom Sterner go full heel and start putting people through tables to keep his job?)
