Bruno Caboclo escapes Toronto Winter, Re-joins D-League team in Fort Wayne

Caboclo has been re-assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Good for Bruno, and good for the Raptors.

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Lost amid all the random trade speculation this week, our most beloved Raptor, Bruno Caboclo, is heading back down to Fort Wayne to pick up where he left off with the Mad Ants. During his first go-around with the team at the end of 2014, he averaged 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13 minutes. There's work to be done.

Presumably, while the Raptors continue to enjoy their vacation, Bruno will be working hard to further develop his basketball skills. As an added bonus, he gets to escape this Canadian winter! He'll go from Toronto's currently chilly minus 8 to Fort Wayne's relatively balmy... minus 12.

Nevermind.

But lo, all is not lost. From the official Raptors press release:

Caboclo will continue to be included on the Raptors' roster and will remain on the team's inactive list. He is expected to be in uniform for the Mad Ants on Thursday when they face the Grand Rapids Drive in Michigan (8 p.m. ET).

Bruno will remain on the inactive list, ready for the call-up he knows is his destiny. He's merely a phone call away.

So let's just agree to call it even. Bruno gets to keep active in his basketball lifestyle. Raptors fans can hope he shaves a year or two off that original four year development curve. And the weather is about the same, coldness-wise.

No word yet from Lucas "Bebe" Nogueira on how he feels about this latest development.
