Raptors Snap Losing Streak, Beat Kings 117-109

New, comments

The losing streak is over. Without DeMarcus Cousins, the Kings fall to the Raptors, who are now 14-4

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Raptors got off to a fast start against the Kings on Tuesday night, jumping out to a double digit lead in the first quarter behind Terrence Ross's 15 points. By halftime, the lead had dwindled down to two. But a 35-point third quarter put the team back in control and they managed to hold the Kings off for a 117-109 road win.

It's really late, so let's deploy the always friendly quick bullets format:

  • Ross was ridiculous in the first quarter, and finished with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting, including four three-pointers. He's been shooting the ball really well on this road trip so far, something the team will need with DeMar DeRozan out indefinitely
  • The game was on NBA TV. Before it started, Greg Anthony unleashed a new word: the analaphor, known as the merger between an analogy and a metaphor. I live for moments like this
  • No Boogie for the Kings, which meant we got treated to seven minutes of Ryan Hollins as a starter. Also, Cousins and Jonas Valanciunas will have to renew their rivalry next time
  • Rudy Gay had 20 points, six rebounds, 10 assists and a block in 39 minutes
  • James Johnson was huge off the bench. 9-for-13. 19 points, seven rebounds. Again, bench guys stepping up in DeRozan's absence will be huge
  • Raptors have allowed 100, 115, 106, 129 (double overtime) and 109 points in their last five games
  • Kyle Lowry is awesome. 27 points, 13 assists, two steals and a block. Again, Kyle Lowry is awesome
  • Ben McLemore put Amir Johnson on a poster in the first half, assuming they still make posters
The Raptors are 14-4, the two-game losing streak is over. They'll play the Jazz on Wednesday to close out their mini three-game road trip. After losing to the Lakers, a 2-1 record on this trip before home games against Cleveland and Denver would be pretty nice, wouldn't it?
