As per the Raptors official press release:
Raptors forward James Johnson sustained a severe right ankle sprain during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game versus Utah. There is no timetable for his return to basketball activity. His status will be updated as appropriate.
We knew the Raptors wouldn't be able to avoid injuries forever. This team was even built with the long regular season in mind with as much depth as it could muster at every position.
For Johnson, however, it couldn't have come at a worse time. After the first ten games of the season, he was on his way to a special kind of immortality in this city. Johnson checks all of the "Toronto Sports Hero" boxes: project crazed intensity, make clutch plays, do the dirty work, exhibit outsized personality.
Here's hoping he gets back sooner rather than later.
Now commence the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the comments as we prepare for more Landry Fields.
