Preseason Record: TOR, 5-1
Game Time: 7:30, watch it on NBA TV Canada
After a positive 3-0 road trip that included stops in Kansas to play OKC and Maine to play the Celtics, the Raptors are back on their home floor. They welcome Maccabi Haifa, the Israeli Super League runner-up from last year, to the ACC tonight.
For the international squad, this exhibition gives them a chance to show off the Super League's talent and playing style. And for the Raptors, they face off against an opponent where the NBA-norm rhythms and scouting are not as apparent. Haifa has lost its last two North American exhibition games, but underdogs can still have some bite.
I will admit that I'm not in a particularly joking mood. With the terrible news out of Ottawa today security will be much more present around the ACC. The Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment official statement includes the following:
"Our top priority is ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our fans and both teams for tonight's pre-season game," said Wayne Zronik, Vice President, Facilities and Live Entertainment for MLSE. "We have worked very closely with the Toronto Police to ensure heightened security measures for tonight's game and we very much appreciate the patience and cooperation of all those in attendance."
Canada is supposed to be an inviting and safe place so it is a shame to hear that this will be necessary. For fans attending tonight, let's hope for an entertaining game free of incident. And please remember to be respectful and mindful of the events in our country.
Now, on to the comments.
