Saturday we posted that the Toronto Raptors were bringing forward Chris Wright and guard Julyan Stone to training camp, as well as one other, yet to be identified player.
Could said player be Angolan guard, Carlos Morais?
Making the internet rounds this AM was this FIBA report noting discussing Morais' participation in workouts with the Raptors currently. The 6-3 guard was the recent 2013 Afrobasket Tournament MVP, averaging just under 16 points, five rebounds and two assists.
From the FIBA piece by Julio Chitunda:
Morais is reportedly practising with the Toronto Raptors, and there is no public confirmation of an agreement between the 27-year-old guard and the Raptors despite media reports in Angola suggesting the AfroBasket 2013 MVP has agreed terms with the Canadian franchise.
When one looks at the Raptors 2013-14 squad, Morais' name remains unnoticed, which is normal due to the specifications of NBA contracts.
Apparently, the news began to circulate when Morais posted his Toronto Raptors' access pass on Instagram, indicating that he was somehow involved with the franchise.
No confirmation from the team or any other sources as of yet, but one has to think Morais will be in training camp with the club, looking to lock down that final roster spot.
