In a sign that NBA Training Camps are finally just around the corner, it's being reported that the Toronto Raptors will be extending camp invites to Chris Wright, Julyan Stone, and one other player. With the Raptors' roster sitting at 14, Wright, Stone and the as yet to be named "other," will be battling it out potentially for that final spot.
In many ways these reported names aren't exactly a big surprise as I mentioned Wright was my pick to get an invite after Quentin Richardson's release, and Toronto was going to sign Stone to a contract earlier this summer before he failed his physical.
So this seems like a bit of a make-good, where the team now invites both players, and lets them battle it out.
As for the other player who has yet to be named?
My bet is Masai Ujiri and co. take a flyer on a big man, perhaps a younger project who still has some potential, or a veteran who can at least come in and up the ante in training camp. This would complete things from a positional perspective too considering that Stone is a guard, and while Wright can play the 2, he's spent more time during his career as a 3.
Obviously none of these invites are locks to make the team.
