Ok so let me get this straight.
The Toronto Raptors hired an executive search firm to find a potential replacement for Bryan Colangelo, something the board of a, you know, basketball team, couldn't do themselves.
Wait though.
...USED TO BE THE RAPTORS ASSISTANT GM, AND WHO MLSE LET WALK TWO YEARS AGO.
Am I the only one who burst out laughing when they read Woj's tweets on the subject yesterday?
This is the most Raptors-esque move ever! They could have saved the franchise two or so years of pain by just you know, firing Colangelo and promoting Ujiri, but instead, went this bizarre route only to get back basically where they started.
I'm imagining the process has involved discussions like this:
Obviously the whole equation isn't as simple as this, since the Nuggets will likely make a strong pitch to keep Ujiri, whose contract is up this summer.
But it sounds more and more thankfully that BC is done, one way or another.
