Raptors' Valanciunas Named to NBA's All-Rookie Second Team

Hey, this past NBA season wasn't a complete disaster for the Toronto Raptors. They did have a certain Lithuanian rookie...

Yesterday, the NBA announced the members of its annual All-Rookie Teams, and for the tenth time, there was a Toronto Raptor present.

Jonas Valanciunas was named to the second team along with Andre Drummond and Kyle Singler of Detroit, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist of Charlotte, and Tyler Zeller of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Valanciunas joins Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, Vince Carter, Morris Peterson, Chris Bosh, Charlie Villanueva, Andrea Bargnani, Jorge Garbajosa and Jamario Moon in Raptors' lore regarding the honour.

On the season, Valanciunas averaged about 9 points, 6 rebounds and a block, but towards the end of the season was a double-double threat on seemingly a nightly basis.

The NBA's All-Rookie First Team consisted of some familiar names like Lillard, Beal, Davis and Barnes, to no one's surprise, several of whom Toronto just missed out on being able to draft last season. The Raptors eventual pick, Terrence Ross, was not named to a team, but did receive a vote for the second unit. Toronto's other rookie, Quincy Acy, was shut out.
