So after a few weeks of sweating out some transcript drama, it looks like Brampton, ON native and soon-to-be UNLV freshman Anthony Bennett has been cleared by the NCAA to play ball this season.
This comes after the top ten high school recruit's Runnin' Rebels had announced that they will be playing a few exhibition games in both Ottawa and Montreal as a part of their pre season tune up period.
Bennett, who could be a starter right out the gate for a team that returns all conference performer Mike Moser, can be another dynamic piece to a rejuvenated UNLV team that could really make noise this season. Bennett could be that second forward option, possibly at the three or four, to compliment Moser and help on the glass and with some scoring.
The Rebels will be heading to Canada in August but Bennett, along with Montreal native Khem Birch, will likely not be with the team for the games due to the decision of the NCAA. Though the team seems hopeful to get him caught up enough to get on the Canadian exhibition set it doesn't seem like it will happen as of now.
At least he can play in the regular season.
