You knew it was coming.
The cat - meowwwwwwwwww - got out of the bag too soon and now someone's trying to put it back in.
After nearly a good week of "the Memphis Grizzlies are shopping Rudy Gay" rumours, Grizz owner Michael Heisley told Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal that the team is not looking to trade Rudy.
In fact, here's the full quote:
"We're not looking to trade Rudy Gay," Heisley said. "We're not shopping him around. Period. Do we sit around and say ‘What if we traded Rudy, who could we get?' No. Right now, Rudy is part of the future of this team."
So we can kill this trade rumour right? Because when Heisley says he's not trading someone, he means it.
(Well...aside from Pau Gasol I suppose.)
Bottom line is that it's great that Heisley came out to attempt to put out the "trade Rudy fires," but until Gay starts the 2012-13 season in a Memphis Grizzlies' uniform, we'll keep pontificating on his potential arrival in Toronto.
