Can the Raptors Grab a Second, First-Round Draft Pick?


With less than two weeks until the NBA Draft, the rumour wheel is spinning non-stop. The Toronto Raptors have a pick in the first round of the draft, as well as two second-rounders, but could there be an opportunity to grab another first-round selection?

Yesterday Hoopsworld's Alex Kennedy reported that several teams are indeed looking to move draft picksincluding the Portland Trailblazers and New Orleans Hornets, who have two lottery options each. There was no mention of cost concerning these picks, but would two second-round picks work in exchange for a later first-round pick? Kennedy reported that various clubs like Oklahoma City are leering of adding another guaranteed contract to their rosters next season, when they're pretty happy with their current core.

Also from the report, a number of teams are trying to get back into the draft such as the Brooklyn Nets, who of course lost their lottery pick via the ridiculous Gerald Wallace trade. Too bad they don't have a top-flight swinman the Dinos could deal for...
