First there was word that Toronto Raptors' guard DeMar DeRozan would be participating in Team USA workouts via the US Select Team this summer.
Now, he's busy spreading the NBA message in China.
DeRozan and long-time friend Brandon Jennings, of the Milwaukee Bucks, will act as celebrity coaches in an exhibition game as part of NBA China Jam Live, a six-day showcase to help the NBA make further inroads into the giant basketball crazed nation.
The tour will feature a handful of current and former NBAers in Guangzhou China., and like the USA select opportunity, will be another chance for DeRozan to get his name out on an even bigger stage.
For Raptors fans, this is definitely a positive thing however one hopes he doesn't do too much more on the PR front, considering the heavy expectations awaiting him next fall. With little improvement to show for in his third season, DeRozan needs a big year four to show that he can indeed be the franchise cornerstone that many expected when he drafted.
