Raptors Pick Up Option on Coach Casey

Bryan Colangelo spoke with the media this morning during his usual "end of season" debrief. We'll go into depth about his speech, and that of coach Dwane Casey tomorrow morning, but one piece of pertinent news indeed came out of this morning's pressers.

The Raptors have picked up the option on Casey's contract, extending him through the 2013-14 season.

From the official Raptors' press release:

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have picked up the option on Head Coach Dwane Casey's contract to extend through the 2013-14 season.

"Dwane did a terrific job this year of adhering to our plan of growth and development for this young team," said Raptors President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo. "We set out to change the culture and improve defensively and he orchestrated both progressions in an impressive fashion."

Really a no-brainer here considering the job Casey did with this moribund and oft-injured group this season.

No word though on the contractual status of Colangelo, something he noted at the presser that he was not concerned about.
