The post season tournament action continues today and the big games are actually shifting from the NCAA Tournament to the NIT where we have Devoe Joseph and Olu Ashaolu trying to make a run at their championship rings plus some big women's games all right here ...
Here is where the men are playing today ...
NCAA
12:05pm NC State vs. Georgetown
2:45pm Saint Louis vs. Michigan State
5:15pm Creighton vs. North Carolina
7:45pm Lehigh vs. Xavier
NIT
11:00pm Northern Iowa @ Drexel
3:00pm Bucknell @ Nevada - In Bucknell's surprising win over Arizona this past Wednesday Bryson Johnson had 14 points in 30 minutes, the most minutes he's seen since he played 32 minutes January 3. This looks promising for this game since he's been having an up and down season and could be a turning point for him, at least in the NIT.
5:00pm Iowa @ Oregon - In Thursday's blowout win over LSU, Oregon's Devoe Joseph and Olu Ashaolu had great games. Devoe went for 25 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals in 37 minutes. Olu had 9 points, 5 boards, 2 assists and a steal in 18 minutes limited by four fouls. That equals about a third of the scoring (96 total), a fourth of the 25 rebounds and almost half of the 20 team assists. You may need to watch this game, like myself, to see what this duo comes up with especially if Olu can stay out of foul trouble.
And here is where the women are playing today ...
NCAA
2:30pm Liberty vs. Notre Dame - Notre Dame should have an easy time with Liberty so you could expect Natalie Achonwa to play a good amount of time. That would be worth checking out for sure since she's incredibly efficient in her time on the floor.
2:30pm UC Santa Barbara vs. Baylor
5:20pm Arkansas-Little Rock vs. Delaware
7:30pm Kansas vs. Nebraska - Nebraska's Kaitlyn Burke is in her last post season tournament and you can bet that she's going all out here. She had a career high 20 points in the Cornhuskers' Big Ten Conference Tournament semi final win over Ohio State to help get into this point so I'd think that there could be a big game in store here.
7:30pm Michigan vs. Oklahoma
NIT
3:00pm Utah @ Washington - Utah beat in-state rivals Utah State to advance in the WNIT Thursday and both Taryn Wicijowski and Michelle Plouffe were great in the victory. Wicijowski had here tenth double-double of the season going for 15 points and 11 rebounds while also blocking 4 shots. Plouffe went off for 15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. The Utes only played Washington once in Pac-12 conference play this season and you can bet that the Huskies are looking for get them back for the 49-36 loss they suffered. This should be an intense one for sure.
3:00pm Tulane @ Texas Tech
CIT
3:00pm Bradley @ Minnesota
5:00pm Wright State @ Seattle
