From the "out of nowhere" category of Raptors' updates, SI.com's Sam Amick is reporting that forward Wilson Chandler is in Toronto to talk to the Raps about a possible pairing. Amick tweeted the report, based apparently on confirmation from Chandler's agent, Chris Luchey.
While this news is no doubt exciting for Raptors fans, it's a bit strange considering The Denver Post, just two days ago, originally reported that Chandler's agent was confirming his return to Denver this season.
However now it seems, Mr. Chandler is exploring his options as he awaits clearance from the Chinese Basketball Association to return to the NBA. He was in Denver on Monday watching the team play, and as a restricted free-agent, regardless of how any talks with the Dinos go, the Nuggets will have the right to match any offer made to the former DePaul stud.
Obviously Chandler would be an upgrade for Toronto at the 3, and his ability to play some 2 and 4 would be a boost as well. The obvious question though, as Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun just noted on Twitter, is that with blue chip swingmen like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Harrison Barnes available in the draft, would paying top dollar for Chandler be the right approach?
Although he does look right at home in the T-Dot in this pic...
