Who would have thought that this late in the season we'd have any more surprise breakouts. Well we did and it's his great game in defeat that has Emmanuel Addo earning his first NC-Double-Eh Player of the Week award ...

Player of the Week

Emmanuel Addo - Sophomore, Northern Colorado

I've been talking here and there all year about a guy named Emmanuel Addo at Northern Colorado and how he's been playing some solid ball. Well last week he had a great game in his team's only contest and his performances was enough to be named the NC-Double-Eh Player of the Week.

In his only game for the Bears last week on Jan. 26, Addo had his best scoring game of his career in the 99-94 double overtime loss to Idaho State on the road. In 39 minutes off the bench, he had 28 points while adding 8 rebounds and an assist in the loss. He shot 6-of-14 from the floor including making 2-of5 from the three point line and sinking 10-of-13 foul shots.

For the season, Addo is averaging 9.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 22 minutes. He's also shooting .524 from the floor, .455 from the arc and .781 from the line. he's currently tied for the team lead in scoring and is third on the team in rebounding. He is ranked in the top ten in the Big Sky Conference in field goal percentage (8th) and free throw percentage (8th).

Honorable Mention: Djim Bandoumel, Idaho - 17.5 ppg, 7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.5 bpg, 14-of-21 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs in 33.5 mpg in two games vs. San Jose State Jan. 26 and Hawaii Jan. 28.

Rookie of the Week

Justin Edwards - Freshman, Maine

Justin Edwards has had another great week for Maine. In the Black Bears' losing streak snapping two wins, he averaged 16 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a steal in 32 minutes. He shot 12-of-28 from the floor (including 1-of-6 from the trey) and a near perfect 7-of-8 from the line. His performance was good enough to earn his sixth America East Rookie of the Week award and we will also honor him with his sixth NC-Double-Eh Rookie of the Week honors also.

In Maine's 80-69 road win against New Hampshire Jan. 25, Edwards went for his second double-double of the season going for 14 points and 10 rebounds while also adding 3 assists to his total in 33 minutes. He shot 6-of-14 from the floor, including 1-of-3 from behind the arc, and sinking his only free throw.

In the Black Bears' 67-59 win over Binghamton at home, Edwards had an equally good game going for 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals in 31 minutes. He shot 6-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw stripe also.

For the season, Edwards is averaging 15.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 31 minutes of action. He's also shooting .472 from the floor, .326 from the three and .723 from the line. He's currently second on the team in scoring and rebounding, third on the team in assists and leads in steals. His numbers rank him among the America East Conference leaders in scoring (5th), rebounding (6th), field goal percentage (6th), assists (9th), steals (tied for 2nd), blocks (6th with 0.8), offensive rebounds (8th with 2.2) and defensive rebounds (7th with 4.2).

Honorable Mention: Ishaq Pitt, Maryland-Eastern Shore - 7.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 7 apg, 4-of-15 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs in 29.5 mpg in two games vs. Bethune-Cookman Jan. 23 and North Carolina A&T Jan. 28.
