Raptors Injury Updates - Lowry, Anderson and Fields all to miss significant time

Hot off the press...some news on the Toronto Raptors recent injured trio of Kyle Lowry, Landry Fields and Alan Anderson...

Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE

Yeah, so about that playoff race.

The Raptors of course sit with only two wins out of their eighth attempts so far this season, and have started a series of mostly on the road matches over the next few weeks.

And now will be missing three players for a good chunk of that time period.

From the Raptors PR folks minutes ago, the news is not great in regards to the injuries to Alan Anderson, Landry Fields and most importantly, Kyle Lowry:

Ø Guard-forward Alan Anderson has a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot. Anderson is estimated to be out for 3-6 weeks during the rehabilitation process.

Anderson sustained the injury with five seconds remaining in the third quarter of the November 10 game versus Philadelphia.

Ø Forward-guard Landry Fields underwent ulnar nerve transposition surgery yesterday to address compression/entrapment in his right elbow. The surgery was performed by Dr. Andrew Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

There is no timetable for a return to basketball activity for Fields. He will be re-assessed in two weeks by Dr. Weiland.

Ø Guard Kyle Lowry has a bruised cuboid bone in his right foot. He will be treated symptomatically with an estimated return time of 1-2 weeks.

Lowry sustained the injury at the 1:29 mark of the second quarter November 6 at Oklahoma City.

The Lowry news of course could have been much worse, but it's still tough to hear considering most of us thought his injury was one of those "he'll miss a couple games" type of things. The Raps will now be without their best player for a little while longer and will have to try and stay afloat in the East until his return.

The other two though?

Fields has no timetable for a return, so suddenly that off-season contract is starting to look at tad Hedo-ish, and Anderson was supposed to be the insurance on Fields. So this means that Dwane Casey is stuck with some Linas Kleiza-Dominic McGuire combo at the 3, and yep, that has "Eastern Conference Championship" written all over it doesn't it?
