Today we have two great games to watch that feature young Longhorns and a peach of an Orange. Find out where everyone else is playing right here ...
12:15pm Oakland vs. Texas in the NCAA Tournament
This should be a romp but it will still be fun to watch. The Longhorns are the odds on favorite to win this game but a huge margin which will likely result in reduced playing time for the regulars. Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph had been playing well in the last few weeks, Tristan particularly. They were both recently named USBWA Freshman All Americans and I’m sure that they will be looking to show why they were bestowed that title every chance they get in this game. They may not really be tested until Sunday when they play the winner of Arizona/Memphis, barring an upset of course, but you will likely see some highlight fodder.
9:57pm Indiana State vs. Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament
Syracuse will be facing an Indian State team that might be tougher than they may seem on paper. The Sycamores are coming off five straight wins and with nothing to lose they will be coming into this game with a very high energy do or die attitude. The Orange have had a history this season of allowing lesser teams to hang around so they will need to come out and grab an early lead on their opponents. This season, opponents like William & Mary and Iona stuck around and lost by only three and six points. That can’t happen in this environment. Kris Joseph has been playing well all season but towards the end he’s sacrificed his scoring but has contributed in other areas like rebounding, passing and defense more. I don’t know if this is the stage to continue deferring since even though Syracuse should be able to win this game, it is still a one and done tournament and Joseph will need to provide the offensive spark regardless of who is hot right now on the team.
7:15pm Long Island vs. North Carolina
7:27pm Marquette vs. Xavier – Despite what the seeding says, Marquette is still the better team in this game but can they pull of the win? Junior Cadougan averaged 7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4 assists in the Big East Tournament off the bench so expect him to put up similar numbers in this game if given the chance.
9:30pm Cal @ Colorado
10:00pm Air Force @ Santa Clara – Santa Clara should still be high from the school’s first post season win in a long time and Marc Trasolini was a huge part of that. He posted 12 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks in 32 minutes in that win so look for him to continue on that trend here against Air Force if the Broncos want to continue to the next game.
