Marquee Match Up
9:00pm Louisiana Tech @ New Mexico State
Here are two teams that have been harboring some great Canadian players for the last two years and now they will go head to head. Louisiana Tech’s Olu Ashaolu has been a beast all season just .2 rebounds shy of averaging a double-double. In his last four games he’s averaging 19.8 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals. For New Mexico State, there are four total Canucks playing for the Aggies this season and both Hernst Laroche and Tyrone Watson have been stalwarts in the starting lineup all year. Laroche has been playing great all year and is averaging 13 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.8 steals over the last five games which includes a season high 24 points on Jan. 27 against Boise State. Watson has been the glue guy for the Aggies doing all the little things to help the team get the win. Christian Kabongo has been less involved in the Aggies offense of late but he may be the X-factor in this one. With both teams hovering at about the same record, this will be a fun game to watch. The Aggies like to run the ball while the Bulldogs play more a halfcourt game and both these teams are coming off losses to Fresno State so look for this to be a grind out.
And here is where everyone else is playing tonight …
5:00pm Central Arkansas @ Texas-Arlington
7:00pm Cleveland State @ Detroit
7:30pm Manhattan @ Iona
8:00pm Coppin State @ Florida A&M
8:00pm Southeast Missouri State @ SIU-Edwardsville
8:00pm Austin Peay @ Tennessee Tech
9:00pm Arkansas-Pine Bluff @ Alabama A&M
10:00pm Cal Bakersfield @ Fresno State – Alex Johnson has been shooting the ball incredibly well all season even at one point leading the NCAAs in three pointers made. Of late, he’s been having fewer open looks now that his rep is preceding him to games but he’s still dangerous if given an open look. Tonight is the first of a home and home that Cal Bakersfield has with Fresno State so look for Johnson to get into the scoring early if they want to get this win.
