Tonight we have the Longhorns looking to stampede through Cyclones. Find out who else is playing tonight right here ...
Marquee Matchup
8:00pm Iowa State @ Texas
This will be a game to watch. Texas is coming off an upset loss to Nebraska three days ago and you can bet that they are looking to take out their frustrations on Iowa State. Iowa State is currently sitting on an eight game losing streak and with Belleville, ON big man Jamie Vanderbeken questionable tonight due to an ankle injury, it’s looking like that losing skid will continue for them tonight. Cory Joseph has been playing solid basketball for Texas the last four games averaging 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 31.5 minutes while providing great defense and running the team. Longhorn teammate Tristan Thompson had playing solid also but had a very un-Tristan like game in the loss to Nebraska scoring only 5 points and grabbing 3 rebounds in 33 minutes. I would expect more than that out of him tonight especially with Iowa State’s frontcourt looking a little thin. On paper, Texas should win this game pretty easily since the Cyclones are short on talent this year and shorthanded also. Without Vanderbeken Iowa State is short a big body, which they had little of to begin with, and a very good long distance shooter. The other Canadian on the team, Melvin Ejim, has been playing well in the last few games but is not scoring at the same clip he was earlier in the season. He’s provided rugged rebounding and defense up front but he’s still a freshman and may have hit that wall. Texas will likely try and get out to a fast start and look to bury their opponents early but if the Cyclones’ last two games are being used as indicators, a five point loss to Texas A&M and a six point loss to Missouri who are both ranked teams, this may not be the cakewalk it seems like on paper.
